Belated National Scrapbooking Day #NSD #tombowpro

nsd lot

Courtesy of some awesome brands and Tombow I received a box of Scrapbooking goodness. I am not a scrapbooker by any means, but I knew all of these goodies would come in handy in my cardmaking. And who knows, maybe in the future I would create a scrapbook page.

Skip ahead and I did do a scrapbook page in the midst of playing with some of the other items. πŸ™‚

I did take that Art Impressions stamp and tried my hand at coloring with my Irojiten pencils, but I didn’t like the end result. 😦 I also played around with the pack of patterned paper for my Mother’s day card for my mom.

But for my project for National Scrapbook Day I decided to do something surrounding a picture of myself and my little sister. She’s currently pregnant with her first child and I was feeling sentimental. Out of all the goodies that I received I used pieces of paper from the 12×12 patterned paper pad from Simple Stories (Life in Color collection), some of the Fancy Pants Designs- Attwell Collection aqua colored stickers, some bits and bobs from a Project Life kit and some odds and ends from my craft table.

For someone that never scrapbooks I’m pretty satisfied with my project. I got to dive into the wonderful bits that Tombow and the other brands were so nice to send AND I was able to try out some new things. Now the next project is either framing or adhering the page to a canvas. πŸ™‚

Thanks again to the awesome sponsors.

Tombow Irojiten Pencils #tombowpro

So this month’s awesome Brand Ambassador care package from Tombow was the Irojiten colored pencils. I am so excited to try these and learn its ways. πŸ™‚

I recently purchased two stamps from Hobby Lobby and figured these were the perfect images to color. A young African American girl and a cutesy elephant. I love elephants so I had to give it a try.

I know you can only go so far with blending when you only have one pencil of each color [give or take] so I told myself do what you can.

I stamped the two images with Versafine onyx black ink and got started. Twenty – thirty minutes later I had these two images.

I actually like my little green elephant. πŸ™‚

I know there’s LOTS of room for improvement and I have never claimed to be an artist, but I enjoyed coloring these two images. It took me back to being young and just enjoying the repetitive motions of coloring. No cares. No concerns. Just. color.

Caruso

I decided to name my two images Jana and Caruso. No idea where I came up with those, but that’s what I named them. πŸ™‚ I plan to use Jana on a Teacher Appreciation Day card for my older sister. Note: Yes I know TAD was earlier this week, but its never too late.

Mother’s Day Card 2 #WildRoseStudio Stamp

20160502_172340

So my mother loves and collects elephants so when I stumbled upon the Wild Rose Studio Bella stamps I knew what I wanted to do for her Mother’s Day card.

I purchased the Bella with Presents Stamp from Simon Says Stamp. My first thought was this was the perfect opportunity to pick up some Copics and try a new medium. Well, we all know the issue going on with Copics so I decided to watercolor this image with some Tim Holtz Mini Distress Inks.

First, I stamped the image (with the help of my MISTI) onto some Strathmore 140lb cold press watercolor paper.

I then used Black Soot, Seedless Preserves and a Ranger brush to color the elephant. I alsoΒ  used Fired Brick,Β Mowed Lawn,Β Salty Ocean, Pickled Raspberry and Mustard Seed to color the remainder of the image.

I decided the Bella herself would be my focal point so I used my stitched rectangle dies from Lawn Fawn to cut her out and to also cut out some red patterned paper.

I attached the patterned paper to a card base and attached Bella to the patterned paper with foam tape.

For the sentiment, I used my Winner and Walter Big, Bold and Happy stamp set to stamp Happy Mother’s Day on the inside of the card.

Fin!

Recollections Watercolor Crayons creations

So if you haven’t been living under a rock you will have seen or heard of via Periscope or any other social media the Recollections watercolor crayons. I initially heard of them from MzDanaJoy from Got Joy Creations.

I don’t own any other watercolor crayons, but I fell in love with these. At a price of $8.99 these were an amazing buy.

This post is just going to be me playing around with these crayons. I wasn’t sure how to use them so I just followed what Dana did. I took some watercolor paper ($2.99 from Target), scribbled some colors on and blended them with a damp finger.

Yes! A damp finger. And the shimmer that these crayons hold. I give them a 10!

I first tried two blue shades and one mint turquoise/aqua green color. Once dry, I then gold embossed over it with the Taylored Expressions Daughter of the King stamp.

Unfortunately, my finished product didn’t come out too well. I think the idea was solid, but the gold I used was not ‘strong’ enough to overtake the blue colors of the background. :sighs: We live and we learn.

On to card two.

I did the same exact steps except this time I used some old Winnie the Pooh notecards that I owned. I fussy cut the Pooh image and set it aside. I moved on to the sentiment. This time I used the Wplus9 Strictly Sentiments 2 stamp set. Throw on some sequins and the Pooh image and I’m done.

Note: I could stand to blend the colors a little longer, but I am super satisfied with the finished product. πŸ™‚
